Witch Hazel carries the fragrance and beauty brands you won't find just everywhere: clean, cruelty-free, and distinctive. Not mall brands. Not mass brands.

It started with flowers.

In 2019, our founder Jill Hilbrenner needed to focus on "something pretty, just for the hell of it" after being treated for early-stage breast cancer. (All good now, knock wood.) She started doing floral arrangements again — an old hobby — because it let her feel like a person and not a patient. That turned into a small gift offering, which turned into a shop.

What Jill brought with her: years on the creative team at Chanel's US headquarters, writing about fragrance and beauty. She knows what the inside of that world looks like and what it tends to overlook. Witch Hazel is partly the answer to that question — and these are some of our favorite finds.

Witch Hazel opened on Main Street in Beacon, New York in 2022. We're in the Hudson Valley, a short trip from New York City, and we've built a space where you can find your new favorite scent, discover natural skincare that works, and make something with your hands in our private studio. We offer creative workshops like floral arranging, pressed flower art, and perfume making, plus full floral design services for weddings and events.

Another thing: everything we carry is cruelty-free. Animals don't have a job here.
