Nerikomi Rose Incense Holder

Handmade for Witch Hazel by David Jo, the ceramic artist behind Flint & Marble in Beacon, NY.

Each petal is shaped by hand using the nerikomi method, a Japanese technique in which tinted clays are layered and folded together so marbling runs through the body of the piece, rather than sitting on its surface. Pigments swirl through every curve, finished in a glossy glaze and set on a small pedestal base.

The center of each flower features a small hole to hold an incense stick, or alternatively fits one incense cone. Because each nerikomi rose is made by hand, no two are exactly alike — and yours will be one of a kind.
